Hi!

This interview is important for me. It will give you some insights about my manager (from my time in Chengdu) and her career within Tieto, it’s impressive – so enjoy!

Linda Rutkovska

Could you please tell us about your background – both private and professional?

My name in Linda Rutkovska. I am currently working as Country HR in China. In addition I have two other roles – Site Manager for Chengdu and HR Partner for SP Embedded SW & Apps within PDS.

In fact, this is my 12th year working for Tieto. I started my career in 2002 as a HR Administrator for Cards unit in Latvia. From 2003 to 2006 as the Head of HR and Office Administration, the main focus was on supporting further business growth and the establishment of Finance Shared service centre in Riga.

In 2007 I accepted the opportunity to move towards a more global role and became HR Partner for Product Solutions with Financial Services, and a bit later I was appointed as HR Partner for Financial Services Industry.

In 2011, I decided to move back into operational HR focusing on Regional and Country HR management.

Outside working hours I am a wife to my husband and a mom to my 5 year old daughter.

And yes, I am just 32 years old.

Why did you start working for Tieto?

Tieto is my second working place. I believe job content and further development opportunities were something that attracted me to work at Tieto.

What’s your most memorable or fun experience that you’ve had during your time with Tieto?

I don’t have just one thing, but plenty of them… Sport days and other company events, M&A projects I have participated in, even transformation projects within units I have supported. I am a result-oriented person, and it is fantastic to see that I can really make a difference.

What are the greatest future challenges and possibilities for Tieto?

I believe Tieto is about to become the Employer of Choice. From my perspective, it is directly connected to competence, internal ability and environment, and the value added to customers.

How to do that? We should all start with ourselves – try to be a bit better each day.

What do you think the Trainee program contributes to Tieto?

I wish we could have Trainee programs in all Tieto countries, as this is for sure a great opportunity to attract the best young talents to our operations. With them we attract passion, new perspectives, innovation, and willingness to improve things.

In May we had an opportunity to host 3 trainees in China, including one to my own unit. And the local team agrees that it is a great way to learn and bring people together.

What is it at Tieto that makes you most proud of?

In April we facilitated Employer Value Proposition-workshops within all 3 sites in China. I should say that the summary of all sessions gives a perfect picture of what makes me feel proud of and engages me most in Tieto:

  • Harmonious working atmosphere
  • Good people work together: caring, competent, honest & respectful
  • Easy communication with managers, and respect towards each other
  • Transparency of the organization
  • Company’s values and culture
  • Work-life balance
  • International working atmosphere
  • Ability to deliver benefits to our customers
  • Open communication and equal treatment/opportunities
  • Opportunity to work on different projects and learn new things
  • Opportunities to work in different technical platforms or areas

What’s one thing that you think everybody should know about Tieto?

With all my heart and soul, I should say that Tieto is a great company. You might say that actually I have not seen anything else… I agree. But why change an employer if there are many more opportunities to explore?

What are your dreams and goals and where do you see yourself in five years?

In five years, for sure, I see myself within HR function, but probably focused more on Strategic HR. I wish I could have further opportunities to work in other Tieto countries, as that is a fantastic experience with a chance to learn both professionally and personally.

Thank you Linda that you took the time and share your working experience and your career path in Tieto!

I miss you, your team and of course Chengdu!
